Day 15 Tuesday 13 April
Today we travel south from Christchurch by road. First stop is Ashburton for a visit to the Plains Railway. Don’t miss the Rodgers 2-4-2 K-class locomotive K88, straight out of the wild west! Afterwards we continue to Timaru to ride on the Pleasant Point Railway, home to a rare model-T Ford railcar. From Timaru we continue our journey southwards to the North Otago coastal town of Oamaru, our base for the night.

Day 16 Wednesday 14 April
Our coach takes us south again to the southern city of Dunedin. The very grand railway station here was built in 1906 and is one of the most photographed buildings in New Zealand. We then continue our journey through the spectacular Taieri Gorge to Pukerangi in Central Otago. From here we re-board our coach and travel through the beautiful Central Otago countryside to New Zealand’s Adventure Capital, Queenstown. The evening is free to select from numerous nearby restaurants.

Day 17 Thursday 15 April
We depart the hotel and travel around Lake Wakatipu to the small settlement of Kingston on the southern shores of the lake. Here we board the Kingston Flyer, to be hauled by an Ab class pacific locomotive in vintage carriages for a run down to Fairlight and back. (Please note: the Kingston Flyer operation has recently been sold and we do not know whether services will be running in April 2010). On return to Queenstown the afternoon is free until in the late afternoon when we walk the short distance from our hotel to Steamer Wharf where we board the 1912 vintage lake steamer TSS Earnslaw. We cruise across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak high country sheep and cattle station for dinner in the Colonel’s Homestead followed by a farm show. We get back to Queenstown around 22.00.

Day 18 Friday 16 April
The day is free to undertake sightseeing and activities of your own choice. There is a wide choice of optional tours and activities in this marvellous alpine resort such as the aerial gondola to Bob's Peak, lake cruises, jet boating, river rafting, trout fishing, a day excursion to Milford sound, horse riding or, if you dare, bungy jumping! In the evening we’ll have a final end of tour dinner to celebrate the tour you have completed with, hopefully, many new-found friends.

Day 19 Saturday 17 April
We have most the day in Queenstown to catch up on some last minute shopping or sightseeing. In the afternoon, we take a domestic Air NZ flight at 16.10 from Queenstown (via Christchurch) for an 18.50 arrival in Auckland where we transfer to the international terminal for our Air NZ flight to London, departing at 21.30…

Day 20 Sunday 18 April
